## Codex Sinaticus Syriac
The near-simultaneous discovery of:

* Codex Sinaticus Syriac
in a short 40 year timeframe is worrysome as:
* [[CodexSinaticusGreekFraud]] clearly a fraud.
* it's fraudster, Tischendorf visited the library where
[[CodexHierosolymitanusGreek]] was "found" shortly before its discovery.
* it is Palimpsest and has never been C-14 dated.
Agnes Smith's [Syriac Sinaiticus](https://archive.org/details/translationoffou00lewiiala/)
has a similar provenance to the Greek Sinaiticus (closely related time and place).
The [Syriac Sinaiticus](https://sinai.library.ucla.edu/) was translated by
[Burkitt](https://archive.org/details/02433500.1271.emory.edu/)
who was on the committee that pushed the [[CodexSinaticusGreekFraud]] forward
as the basis of the "new improved" Bibles after 1880, including the NIV.
The 'authenticity" of Vaticanus and the [[CodexSinaticusGreekFraud]] was staunchly
defended for decades by the same group/cabal that became the
[Revision Committee](https://archive.org/details/revisionrevised0000john/).
The Syriac Sinaiticus is also turning to be not as old as earlier suggested:
it's currently dated at [698 AD](https://esketikon.hypotheses.org/134).
It's important to distinguish between:
1. Church of the East PeshittA This is the original Aramaic, said to have
been brought by the A. Thomas to India via Persia with a
[shipwreck](http://aina.org/articles/socotra.pdf) on
[socotra](http://www.trcmst.org/st-thomas/)
(a.k.a. [Nestorian](http://www.peshitta.org/for/showthread.php?tid=1927)).
2. Old Syriac PeshittO, said to have been translated from the Greek after
the Diatesseron, and westernized with added NT books (a.k.a. Philoxenian
[Johnannite](http://www.peshitta.org/for/showthread.php?tid=1928))
3. Syriac Sinaiticus, which is considered Old Syriac like the Cureton, but
an oddball because of its high number of scribal errors.
There are strong reasons to prefer the Church of the East (CoE)
[[ChurchOfTheEastPeshitta]]: see [[PeshittaPrimacy]]
In addition, we must look to see if the additions or deletions in the
Syriac Sinaiticus support the same additions or deletions in Vaticanus
relative to the Textus Receptus, to see if there are indications of a
concerted effort to rewrite the Bible.
